The creative ideas for the Centers at Palm Key have come from the continuous experiences we have had with our guests. The point of life becomes even more important when we find a way to help one another in the time of emotional experiences whether it is in joy, crises or other things in between the extremes. Our human desire to care and share whatever is ours to give is the basis of our Centers. During the remainder of 2018 Palm Key will be working with experts to assure those seeking the completion of the Centers will have the opportunity to do so here at Palm Key.

Please visit this page often and watch the Centers grow through those who care to make a difference.

Overview

Collectively, our team has seen years of amazing results of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) which allows us to be highly motivated to build the HBOT Centers at Palm Key for Health and Wellness. The Center is designed to help those suffering from a variety of health conditions and diseases including:

•Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI)
•Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
•Severe Pain
•Autism
•Burns
•Non-healing Wounds
•Addiction to opioids

Our team has witnessed the resolve of these challenging health issues through HBOT. Watching this healing process always feels like watching yet another miracle. Knowing the potential of HBOT therapy inspires us to build and operate The Centers at Palm Key to serve the multitude of people in need of help.

Benefits

HBOT is a well-established treatment; the number of clients who have been treated with HBOT therapy have shown significant health benefits.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

• Increases the body’s ability to fight infections
• Potentiates antibiotic capabilities
• Decreases swelling and inflammation
• Accelerates cellular renewal
• Stimulates collagen production
• Improves the quality of life for patients and their families

How does it work?

During the treatment, 100% oxygen is in the hyperbaric chamber while atmospheric pressure is simultaneously increased. This symbiosis causes oxygen concentration within the body to increase 15 to 20 times the normal air pressure. Increased oxygen concentrations help the body initiate cellular processes that can accelerate healing and aid in the recovery from certain conditions and illnesses. HBOT is known to be non-invasive and safe and has minimal to no side effects. HBOT is administered under the constant surveillance of a medical professional. Each treatment is called a “Dive” since this therapy was developed as a rescue treatment for scuba divers and is now developing into a diverse international system.

With your help.

Healing will be accomplished through treatments in the HBOT facility and through experiencing comradery and togetherness through art therapy, educational training, and other wellness workshops. Lodging and food service for participants also will be provided. The Centers see this integration of treatment and therapy as paths that will lead our clients to a better life.

Case Studies

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD): 45 year old medically discharged soldier who suffered from insomnia and severe PTSD received HBOT treatment. Insomnia and PTSD led him to be extremely withdrawn from his family. He hardly socialized with others and, rarely left his bedroom; eating all his meals alone. After completing 90 HBOT dives over six months, the patient reported he was no longer on his “cocktail” of medications and felt as though he was back to his former self. His social skills were enhanced, he began spending time with his family again; his overall quality of life vastly improved.

Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD): Patient in his 20's who experienced an IED explosion and the immediate loss of a fellow soldier received HBOT treatment. He complained of daily headaches, severe pain in his feet, thoughts of suicide and drastic mood swings. The patient completed 70 HBOT dives and reported a drastic reduction of headaches, the pain in his feet improved by 90% and his mood and temperament improved. Instead of sitting around the house all day, he now spends his time fishing or spending time with his wife and kids.

Neuropathy: 60 year old retired Navy diver who suffered nerve damage in his feet, the result of years of military related dives, received HBOT treatments. The nerve damage led to neuropathy in his feet. Prior to treatment the patient was only able to walk short distances with the assistance of two canes and often used a wheelchair or motorized scooter to get around. After completing 40 HBOT dives the patient reported regaining feeling in his feet. With his improved mobility he was able to walk longer distances without his canes, therefore increasing his independence. He also noticed better sleep and improved energy.

Autism: 11 year old boy with Autism displayed behaviors associated with anxiety, such as always carrying around a red bandanna. His parents reported their child displayed oppositional behaviors and was nonverbal. After 40 dives over a 12 week period, the parents reported their son had begun to speak in 3-6 word phrases, was now following most directions voluntarily and had started to spend more social time with his family. The patient began to acknowledge the therapists at the clinic with a “hi” and a high five, and he no longer needed the comfort of carrying his bandanna.

Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA): 55 year old female, who had been suffering from RA over a year, reported that her hands and feet were suffering from inflammation. When the patient came in for her first treatment she could only squeeze into one old pair of stretched out shoes. After 10 HBOT dives, the patient reported she was able to move her hands more freely and can now wear every pair of shoes she owns.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD): 24 year old Marine suffering from the results of PTSD for years, received HBOT treatments. The patient reported his symptoms of insomnia, depression, tremors, suicidal thoughts, pain, and hallucinations. The patient was on multiple medications all of which he stopped taking at the start of HBOT. After completing 70 dives over six months, the patient reported relief from pain and insomnia after 1 week of treatments, no issues with medication withdrawal, normal sleep patterns, no hallucinations, no tremors, no thoughts of suicide and very little pain. With his improved quality of life, he now has the ability to socialize and work in the field he loves.

Burn: 40 year old with 3rd degree burns on one leg received HBOT treatment. After 28 HBOT dives over 14 days, the burned areas were healed enough that the patient reported he was able to put clothes on and return to work.

Opioids: 40 year old female nurse reported she had become addicted to prescription medication, an epidemic in our society today. After 40 dives the patient reported she is off all medication and has been for four years. HBOT saved her life.
